INanoBio Inc

Bharath Takulapalli is the Founder & CEO of INanoBio, a company pioneering technologies at the confluence of nanotechnology, systems biology and machine learning................

Bharath founded INanoBio with the ambitious goal of developing advanced nano-biotechnologies for resolving biological complexity, to deliver early stage diagnostics for disease preemption, reduce healthcare expenditures to a fraction of todays, saving trillions of dollars. He defines disease preemption as diagnosing, intervening and curing diseases early on, even before symptoms appear.

What disease specific biomarkers to detect? how to detect them for early diagnosis and to guide precision medicine? These questions have confounded scientific community owing to the extraordinary complexity underlying disease biology. Over 15 years Bharath has worked rigorously on developing disruptive nano-biotechnology platforms to answer these questions, resulting in over 30 global patents. He invented nano-sensors to detect extremely small amounts of molecular biomarkers in blood; a novel 3D nanopore-transistor to readout the human genome at 1/10 the cost & time needed today; and proteomic technologies to develop disease specific biomarkers capable of 99% accuracy diagnosis.

Combining these innovations, INanoBio is currently developing a blood-based high accuracy diagnostic test for lung cancer that obviates need for lung biopsy (company’s first product), in addition to research on biomarkers for other cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. Bharath got his bachelors from IIT Madras India, PhD in nano-electronics from ASU and researched nano-bio technologies for over a decade prior to founding INanoBio.

Mitja Hinderks
The Litus Foundation

Mitja Hinderks is the founder of the Litus Foundation, which has the mission to help slow global warming and enable creatures to adapt to it.............

he Foundation’s first project is to develop uncooled internal combustion (IC) engines for all applications and fuels. They don’t exist yet, and apparently only the Foundation is working on this. Uncooled engines – a 21st century enhancement of today’s products – would cut energy use, operating costs and CO2 emissions by about half; be two to ten times lighter and smaller; nearly silent; more reliable, and cost about the same as today’s units.. Once they are on the market, the world would switch from cooled to uncooled engines within two decades, cutting global man-made CO2 by around 20%. The global engine market is worth over $650 billion annually.

Mitja developed the intellectual property (IP) and patents on uncooled engines and other energy saving technologies. He has over thirty years’ experience as an engineering, industrial and architectural designer. Other engineering work includes on low back-pressure exhaust systems; band brakes for high-load uses; continuously variable transmissions (CVT's) with no power limitation; hybrid electric vehicles and aircraft; as well as large hydrofoil marine craft.

Past architectural design includes all ward accommodations for a 1,000-bed teaching hospital for the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa; refurbishment of major interior spaces of Union Station, and of the Press Club Building, both in Washington DC. Working with Dworsky Associates in the early 90's, he undertook much of the design development of Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall, collaborating with designer Frank Gehry's office.

He studied engineering with the Open University and, previously, architecture at the University of Cape Town and at the Regent Street Polytechnic. He maintains a strong interest in the arts and sciences, and was briefly a professional photographer.

Peter Hürzeler
Managing Partner
Ocean Independence AG

Swiss-born Peter Hürzeler has over 30 years’ experience in the yachting industry, from merchant deck officer at the age of 21.............

to the present day where he runs, in partnership with Nicholas Dean, one of the world’s foremost luxury yacht brokerage, charter, management, new build and consultancy companies.

From pastime to profession, Peter circumnavigated the globe as a young merchant deck officer, gaining thousands of sea-miles on commercial ships and in parallel acquired his Dutch Master Mariner qualification. Then in 1985, using the knowledge, professionalism and seamanship he had acquired during his commercial training, Peter Hürzeler decided to create one of the industry’s first owner-operated luxury cruise-charter companies. The fleet’s first vessel, 120’ sailing yacht COLOMBAIO, was commissioned and constructed in Holland, commercially certified, registered and operated—this at a time when the likes of the MCA were not even dreamed of. Peter captained COLOMBAIO from her launch in 1987. The yacht was kept solidly booked for several years and the charter operation eventually grew from 1 yacht to 3.

He then made the natural transition to life ashore, forming a company in his home town of Zürich, called Ocean Cruise, specialising in yacht management and brokerage. In January 2005, after masterminding the merger of Ocean Cruise, Sea Independence and Veloná Yachting, Peter joined forces with a long-standing friend and professional associate, Nicholas Dean. Together they formed Ocean Independence: a 16 strong network of offices, spanning the globe. Then 2008 saw the acquisition of Cavendish White, a highly respected and long standing competitor, resulting in the world’s largest central agency listing of crewed luxury super yachts and one of the largest listings of yachts for sale. Peter was also elected for 3 terms as the President of MYBA - the most important global super yachting association.
